blog: languages!

yes i do agree with Patricia Ryan, knowing more than one language is a great thing it just takes A LOT of patience, and time. Its good because it it helps keep your brain thinking for when your older so you dont get Alzheimer's as easy as people that speak one language. Yes it is important to know more than one language because it looks good for college, jobs and more! But this lady brought up so many things about knowing two languages that i would of never known!

 This article is called Mexico Reels From Deadly Arson Attack . This article is about an armed man who busted into a casino saying he has armed weapons and that hes going to burn everything.  It was 19 year old Carla Maria Espinoza Vega's second day at work. Intruders put accelerant everywhere and set the building on fire. This arson in northern mexico has killed 52 people mostly women. Claimed ore than 35,000 people since 2006 according to government, others say around 40,000. I think this is so horrible i dont understand how someone could do this to that many people and get away with it.

This semester in spanish two i hope to maintain a good grade and really learn spanish better. Personally i hate blogging but its better then other homework so i just suck it up. Yes i did a blog last year last semester with you. I think this could be a useful tool because its online. And you can get ideas from other classmates.

Vacation! Blog #5

The one spanish speaking country that i feel is a good vacation spot is Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. the hotel we stayed at was the Rio Mar, its was GORGEOUS! The air fare is only $351 ( one way ) so figure $702 per person. but back when we went in 2005 so air fare was $800 for our family of four. The hotel stay is 3966-464 a night depending on the view, season and room. Things we did there was we went to the saint Cristobal fort. It was so amazing to see the old cannons, and the dungeon. Another thing we did is we actually went to the Bacardi rum factory it was awesome we got a chance to smell all the different smells of their rum and how they make it. Also we went shopping in San Juan it was so pretty there but very busy people wise. But for the most part we stayed on the beach and walked around. The rio mar has amazing pools with slides. Everyday at a certain time they would have water aerobics, also there was a smores with a huge bonfire. Another thing we did was feed iguanas  but you had to be careful of their tail and they rean really fast, instead of deer crossing signs they had " iguana crossing". The hotel/ beach had really good entertainment we entered a sandcastle contest it was really fun. They also have great places to eat! but for this overall trip we spent was about 5,000 for 8 days 7 nights. the cost to stay there now would be almost 12,000.   ( sorry all of our other pictures are saved on a dvd)

blog#4 La musica!

I decided to choose Shakira, she lived in Colombia. She sings latin/pop, yes i've heard her many times but usually in english. and yea i really like her music it's interesting! the song i chose was la totura ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD8jir9uMrM ). this song is about how she lost her love and it was torture. i really like this song a lot though and i also like the background music like the drums, and stuff like that. and Shakira has a beautiful voice!

Blog #3(a single story)

The danger Of a Single story.  

Wow! This is so true I didn't realize how many people judge people by one thing they hear or one thing they see. And yes this is definitely something we do every day of our lives. I've never really noticed my self or others doing this until now, I do this all the time. Yes we are swayed by what we see on media, They show an african american getting arrested because of a shooting we automatically think every african american is like that. We see a white new yorker being rude and snobby toward every  person in their way and everyone thinks every new yorker is like that. Well, my whole family and I  are new yorkers but not one of us are rude and snobby. And honestly I don't think we can do anything to overcome this media is too popular and people make so much money off of gossip they will never stop that. Everyone has opinions and that will never change.

This article i found is called Church: Cuba offers 2 free prominent dissidents. This article is about about an agreement to release two prominent dissidents which basically is someone who has a very strong opinion and out put on things and can careless what someone says. So in this article  there is a man who really wants to stick up for what he thinks is right and has refused for months to accept exile in Spain. An exile is where someone is enforced to be removed from ones native country. There were two men but one did not want to stick up for his rights but the other did therefore he said he would remain in jail until ailing prisoners are free and other demands were met.  


Some of my thoughts on this article is that i would do the same thing to stick of for my rights even if there were harsh consequences. I was not aware of this at all. Also this article will not affect me at all.

A)Whats do you hope to do this semester? 

This semester in SpanishI, I would really like to learn all the basics of Spanish. Like  for example I've already learned the alphabet, how to count to ten and the days of the week. we also learned what countries speak Spanish. i guess my next goal in Spanish would be to learn how to pronounce the words better and not like pause when im saying a sentence in Spanish. 

B) what are you thoughts about blogging? have you ever done this before? how do you think his could be a useful tool? 

 some of my thoughts about blogging are that its a different way to keep up with Spanish.no i have never blogged before im not really into this kind of stuff. and i think this could be useful because we can get caught up on what were doing in class and stuff like that. 

C) is there anything you want me to know as we progress through the semester?
i am not good at Spanish at all.
